For Authors

Publishing language:
All Sámi languages, Finnish and English.

Name of Author:
After the title, name of the author – authors and affiliation and e-mail.

Abstract:
Approximately 100 words, 5-7 keywords.

General guidelines:
Approx. 3000-8000 words including references.
Times New Romain, 12pt, spacing 1,5

Submitting:
MS Word (.doc or .docx) or RTF (.rtf). Submit (send article).

Language check:
Articles should be language-proofed. We also recommend using the spelling program (Divvun) in Sámi text.

Peer review:
Articles will be peer reviewed. The authors have to take into account peer reviewers’ comments. The editor and/or the editorial board handles the article and decides whether the article will be send to the peer review. Two external experts carry out peer-review anonymously. Peer reviewers have to be independent.

Timetable:
Published twice a year. Deadlines June 1st and December 1st.

In recent years Sámi art and aesthetics have been invited into majority contexts in hitherto unprecedented ways – from international exhibitions such as documenta 14 in Kassel in 2017 to the Sámi Pavilion at the forthcoming Venice Biennial in 2022. While Sámi art has gained new visibility internationally, this has not necessarily meant that the conditions for making, producing and exhibiting Sámi art and aesthetics in Sápmi on Sámi premises have been strengthened. There are still few Sami-oriented art institutions, and there is still no Sámi art museum. Yet, while formal art institutions are scarce, cultural festivals in Sápmi have long functioned as an important artistic, social and economic infrastructure for the development of the transnational field of Sámi art.
